2010

I’ve mentioned before that I get Family Fun Magazine and in this month’s issue there was an advertisement for “RoomMates Peel & Stick DeCOR.”  In the advertisement it states “Decorate in Seconds!  walls, windows, furniture, accessories….”  I checked out their website and I must say that I’m pretty excited to order sometime.  I especially like the chalk and dry erase circles which would be perfect if you have school-aged kids to write their assignments due, chores, appointments, etc..  I just took a glance at their site but I’m sure there are many things on there I would love to order.  When I do order, I’ll be sure to review it here!  I love unique sites and this one has made it to my favorites list {which is already a mile long}!

Also, in this month’s publication of Family Fun there was a no-mess activity idea for kids.  They call it the “Mess-Free Quick Draw.”  I tried to search for it on their site but couldn’t find it.  Basicly, your child can draw pictures over and over and ”erase” them with the swipe of his/her hand.  What you do is place about 4 ounces of washable tempera paint into a gallon-size ziplock bag.  Carefully squeeze the air out of the bag, seal it securely, and tape it closed.  Tape the bag to the table.  Your child can use his/her fingertips or better yet, use a cotton swab to draw on the pad.  I don’t have paints like these but I’ve always wanted to get some.  I will have to try this when I get some and when I do I’ll post here about it.  If you want to fore-go the paint, you can always just give your child some chocolate pudding to “draw” with, and at least it’s edible :)

We recently watched The Hurt Locker via Netflix.  I must say I {as well as my husband} were rather disappointed and didn’t really care for it.  The entire story revolves around an EOD {explosive ordnance disposal} team.  Having personally been there {as well as my husband}, we found several inaccuracies. However, the one thing we did find true to what it is like over there is what it looks like.  You can watch the news though on any given night and you can see that for yourself.  Seeing it though in this movie, with the limping cat, children chasing the army vehicles, etc…it’s almost as if I could smell it all over again.  The villiages of Iraq have a very distinct smell…I can’t explain it.  I was anticipating this movie would give the general public a better idea of what it is like over there.  I just didn’t see that with this movie.  Before the movie starts there’s an ad for what I think is a documentary of soldiers who have been in Iraq and I’m more interested in seeing that than ever watching “The Hurt Locker” again.  I’m not sure why this movie was such a rave, beat out ”Avatar” {which is on our rental list}, and received best director”;  although I do have my own personal conclusion on that.  We did just watch “Couples Retreat” as well, and we liked this movie better than we liked “The Hurt Locker.”  These are only my personal reviews and opinions of these movies so I’m not saying “don’t rent this, or rent that….” I encourage others to see the movies I review and gather their own opinions.  If you wish, please share your own reviews in the comments section.  Also, if there’s a movie you recommend, I’d love to hear it! I very much rely and value the opinions of others when I purchase anything online, when I don’t know what movie to watch, or don’t know what to make for supper so I call my sister-in-law. ;)

Anyway, now to the baby bump.  I just finished up those maternity images yesterday and I’m in love with this one.  It’s gotta be one of my favorites and I had to share.  I think this depicts their personalities PERFECTLY and that’s my goal with every session I have…to do just that.  You can see more in the maternity gallery here

I love comments/feedback, so please don’t be shy and leave me some blog love :)   You never know, you may be able to help someone else.  Speaking of helping others…there’s a youtube video out there about children and rear-facing car seats..yikes, you can see it here.

Well until next time….Live, Laugh. and Love the one you’re with {no matter how crazy they may make you}! ;)
